Mold Removal That Addresses the Moisture Behind the Growth
Basement mold can develop behind drywall, beneath flooring, inside cabinets, around stored belongings, and along lower exterior walls. Surface cleaning does not correct growth inside porous materials or moisture concealed behind finished surfaces.
We inspect beyond the visible mold to determine how far the affected area extends. Our team isolates the work zone, removes materials that cannot be restored, cleans retained surfaces, and dries damp structural components.
Basement mold removal services we provide
- Visual mold inspections
- Moisture detection and mapping
- Containment of affected areas
- HEPA air filtration
- Controlled material removal
- HEPA vacuuming and detailed cleaning

Could Mold Be Hidden in Your Basement?
Mold is not always limited to a visible patch. Lower-level spaces can hold moisture inside walls, flooring systems, stored materials, and areas with limited airflow.
Signs professional mold removal may be needed
A persistent musty odor remains
An unexplained musty smell can come from growth behind walls, beneath flooring, inside closets, or around stored belongings.
Mold returns after surface cleaning
Recurring growth can indicate that the affected material remains damp or that mold extends beneath the visible surface.
Walls or flooring show moisture damage
Stains, peeling paint, softened drywall, damaged plaster, or lifted flooring can point to concealed moisture.
Condensation develops on surfaces
Moisture collecting on walls, windows, pipes, or other cool surfaces can contribute to recurring dampness.
Mold appeared after water damage
Materials that did not dry completely after flooding, seepage, or another water event can support mold growth.
How We Remove Mold From Basements and Lower Levels
We organize the remediation plan around the affected materials, moisture conditions, accessibility, and how the space connects to the rest of the property.
We discuss the mold concern
We ask where the growth or odor appeared, when it was first noticed, and whether the basement experienced water damage or recurring dampness.
We inspect the affected areas
We examine visible growth and check nearby walls, flooring, storage areas, cabinets, and other accessible materials for moisture.
We establish containment
We isolate the work area and use HEPA-filtered equipment to limit the movement of dust and particles into adjoining spaces.
We remove mold-affected materials
We remove porous materials that cannot remain, clean retained surfaces, and dry damp structural components.
We review the remediated space
After remediation, we explain what was completed and coordinate independent clearance testing or approved repairs when requested.
Controlled Remediation From Inspection Through Repairs
Basement mold removal requires careful containment, material evaluation, detailed cleaning, and moisture control. We keep each stage organized and explain what the affected space needs.
Why property owners call our mold removal team
Inspection beyond visible mold
We check the affected and surrounding areas to determine whether moisture or growth extends into connected materials.
Containment and HEPA filtration
We isolate the work area and operate HEPA-filtered equipment during removal and cleaning.
Careful material handling
We remove affected porous materials in a controlled manner and clean structural surfaces that can remain.
Structural drying support
We use professional drying equipment when damp walls, flooring, framing, or other retained materials require additional moisture removal.
Approved repairs through one team
We can coordinate drywall, insulation, flooring, baseboard, cabinet, texture, and paint repairs after remediation.

Sam and Ali were absolutely fantastic to work with. From the very beginning, they were professional, thorough, and incredibly communicative. They came out multiple times to assess the situation and provided a detailed, transparent quote that clearly outlined the scope of work—no hidden fees, no surprises. What really stood out was their honesty and the time they took to explain everything. The level of detail they provided gave us full confidence in their knowledge and capabilities. They were easy to talk to, responsive, and clearly dedicated to helping their clients understand every step of the process. If you're looking for a company that is reliable, transparent, and truly knows their stuff choose A/S general contracting. I 10/10 recommend them.

A/S general contractor was recommended by a friend and so glad I went with them. They were able to come in and remodel our house after a flood and it far exceeded my expectations. They turned a stressful situation to easy and stress free for us. Special shoutout to Sam, for keeping things honest and straight forward. I knew what I was getting from the get go and if I had any issues he was able to correct them within the hour. Sam is detailed oriented and you can he shows that he cares about the customers by his actions.

Two years after the “shoddy” work they performed we are having to completely replace the flooring. They shot pin nails into laminate flooring but that isn’t the worst part. The patchwork they used to lay a sub floor was crap. They know what they did. They all like to agree and blame the homeowner for whatever goes wrong. One tone even suggesting they because we live in a “trailer house,” the floor would never be perfect. Well now we see clearly what kind of a pieced together project they did, we now have someone who is fixing this fiasco! Don’t use them

We had a major water leak that required us to file a claim through our insurance company, and our plumber referred us to A/S General. From the very beginning, Greg and Sam were incredibly helpful, guiding us through the entire process and helping expedite everything with our insurance company. Greg, Sam, and their entire team were professional, thorough, and communicative every step of the way. The construction crew consistently showed up on time, worked efficiently, and always left the work area clean at the end of each day. Thanks to their attention to detail and quality craftsmanship, our home is now in even better condition than before the water leak. We highly recommend A/S General to anyone in need of home restoration or construction services. Thank you to the entire team for taking such great care of our home!

Requested to do the job asap. Told Sam Abraham we have house guests coming in at the middle of the week. He sent a crew to see what needs to be done. By Monday, they started fixing the damage and late afternoon, the same day, the job was done. Sam Abraham didn't promise but he produced the result. Ben L

The team has been on time, quick, understanding & professional. I can say a lot of people are not like that now and days. Sam and Travis were amazing at what they do. Need more good people like them. From somebody from the military nothing makes me happier than someone that is on time and staying true to their word. Continue the good work you do gentlemen.

Mold Concerns in San Diego Basements and Lower Levels
Full basements are less common in San Diego than in many other parts of the country, but hillside homes, older properties, split-level buildings, below-grade rooms, and converted storage spaces can face similar moisture conditions.
Seasonal rain can direct water toward foundations, retaining walls, garages, and lower exterior walls. Coastal humidity can also contribute to condensation in enclosed spaces with limited airflow.
When moisture reaches drywall, flooring, insulation, cabinets, or stored belongings, mold can develop beyond the visible area. We inspect the surrounding materials before determining what requires removal, cleaning, drying, or repair.
Areas commonly affected by lower-level mold
- Drywall and plaster
- Lower exterior walls
- Flooring and subflooring
- Cabinets and built-in storage
- Baseboards and trim
- Insulation and framing
- Closets with limited airflow
- Storage areas and contents
- Stairwell walls
- Rooms near retaining walls

Basement Mold Removal FAQS
How do I know if my basement has hidden mold?
Musty odors, recurring stains, peeling paint, damp walls, warped flooring, or mold returning after cleaning can indicate concealed growth. A professional inspection can help identify affected materials and moisture conditions.
Can I remove basement mold myself?
A small amount of surface growth may appear manageable, but mold inside porous materials or across a larger area requires containment and controlled removal. Professional help is recommended when drywall, insulation, flooring, or multiple surfaces are affected.
Does basement mold always require testing?
No. When visible mold and affected materials can be identified, removal can sometimes proceed without preliminary testing. Independent testing can help when the source is unclear, growth is concealed, or documented clearance is requested.
Can dehumidification solve a basement mold problem?
Dehumidification can reduce excess moisture, but it does not remove existing mold from contaminated materials. The space may require material removal, HEPA cleaning, drying, and correction of the moisture source.
How long does basement mold removal take?
The timeline depends on the affected area, materials involved, containment requirements, moisture levels, access conditions, and repairs. We provide a clearer schedule after inspecting the space.
