Does Your Property Need Immediate Temporary Protection?

Board up service may be needed whenever exterior damage leaves a building open, unstable, or vulnerable to additional exposure.

Situations that can require professional board up services

Windows are broken or missing

Broken glass and open window frames can allow rain, debris, animals, and unauthorized individuals to enter the property.

Exterior doors no longer close securely

A damaged door, frame, hinge, or locking area can leave an entrance vulnerable even when the door remains partially attached.

Fire damage created structural openings

Firefighters may need to open windows, doors, roofing, or wall sections during emergency response, leaving the building exposed afterward.

Storm damage affected the exterior

High winds, falling branches, and flying debris can damage windows, doors, roofing, siding, and other exterior components.

A storefront or commercial entrance is exposed

Damaged glass, doors, or exterior panels can affect property security and interrupt normal business operations.

What Happens When You Call About an Exposed Property?

Our process focuses on identifying vulnerable openings, installing temporary protection, documenting the damage, and preparing the property for the next restoration stage.

We learn what happened

We ask what caused the damage, which parts of the property are exposed, whether emergency responders are still present, and whether entry has been restricted.

We inspect the accessible openings

We evaluate damaged windows, doors, walls, storefronts, garages, and other accessible exterior openings requiring temporary coverage.

We prepare the board up plan

We determine which openings need protection, select appropriate materials, and explain the temporary securing work before moving forward.

We complete the approved board up

We cover the designated openings, secure the temporary materials, and work carefully around the remaining property components.

We review the secured property

We inspect the installed protection, document the completed work, and explain the cleanup, restoration, or permanent repairs that should follow.

Fast Support From Emergency Securing to Final Repairs

Boarding up damaged openings is often the first stage of a larger restoration project. We can help protect the property immediately and coordinate the cleanup and approved repairs that follow.

Sam and Ali were absolutely fantastic to work with. From the very beginning, they were professional, thorough, and incredibly communicative. They came out multiple times to assess the situation and provided a detailed, transparent quote that clearly outlined the scope of work—no hidden fees, no surprises. What really stood out was their honesty and the time they took to explain everything. The level of detail they provided gave us full confidence in their knowledge and capabilities. They were easy to talk to, responsive, and clearly dedicated to helping their clients understand every step of the process. If you're looking for a company that is reliable, transparent, and truly knows their stuff choose A/S general contracting. I 10/10 recommend them.

Two years after the “shoddy” work they performed we are having to completely replace the flooring. They shot pin nails into laminate flooring but that isn’t the worst part. The patchwork they used to lay a sub floor was crap. They know what they did. They all like to agree and blame the homeowner for whatever goes wrong. One tone even suggesting they because we live in a “trailer house,” the floor would never be perfect. Well now we see clearly what kind of a pieced together project they did, we now have someone who is fixing this fiasco! Don’t use them

We had a major water leak that required us to file a claim through our insurance company, and our plumber referred us to A/S General. From the very beginning, Greg and Sam were incredibly helpful, guiding us through the entire process and helping expedite everything with our insurance company. Greg, Sam, and their entire team were professional, thorough, and communicative every step of the way. The construction crew consistently showed up on time, worked efficiently, and always left the work area clean at the end of each day. Thanks to their attention to detail and quality craftsmanship, our home is now in even better condition than before the water leak. We highly recommend A/S General to anyone in need of home restoration or construction services. Thank you to the entire team for taking such great care of our home!

Requested to do the job asap. Told Sam Abraham we have house guests coming in at the middle of the week. He sent a crew to see what needs to be done. By Monday, they started fixing the damage and late afternoon, the same day, the job was done. Sam Abraham didn't promise but he produced the result. Ben L

The team has been on time, quick, understanding & professional. I can say a lot of people are not like that now and days. Sam and Travis were amazing at what they do. Need more good people like them. From somebody from the military nothing makes me happier than someone that is on time and staying true to their word. Continue the good work you do gentlemen.

Protecting San Diego Properties After Unexpected Damage

San Diego includes older houses, coastal residences, hillside homes, high-rise buildings, storefronts, apartments, and mixed-use properties. The appropriate board up plan depends on the building’s design, location, and type of damage.

Coastal wind and rain can enter through broken windows, damaged doors, and compromised exterior openings. In densely developed neighborhoods, an exposed entrance or storefront can require prompt temporary protection because of nearby pedestrian activity.

Hillside and vegetation-adjacent properties may need board up services after fire or wind damage affects windows, doors, garages, and exterior wall openings. Multi-unit buildings can require careful access coordination to protect damaged common areas or individual units.

We evaluate the exposed areas and install temporary protection suited to the property while permanent repairs are planned.

Areas commonly secured after property damage

  • Broken windows
  • Damaged exterior doors
  • Storefront entrances
  • Garage openings
  • Damaged wall sections
  • Fire-damaged openings
  • Patio and sliding doors
  • Ground-level access points
  • Vacant units
