Professional Moisture Control for Damp Properties
Removing visible water does not mean every affected material is dry. Moisture can remain inside drywall, flooring, framing, cabinets, insulation, and enclosed structural areas.
Professional dehumidifiers remove water vapor from the air and support evaporation from damp building materials. We evaluate the property, select equipment for the affected space, and track moisture levels throughout the drying process.
Dehumidification services we provide
- Indoor humidity evaluation
- Moisture detection and mapping
- Commercial dehumidifier placement
- Air-mover installation
- Structural drying
- Drying-chamber setup

Is Excess Moisture Remaining Inside Your Property?
High humidity is not always easy to see. Damp odors, surface condensation, and changes in building materials can indicate that moisture remains in the air or structure.
Signs professional dehumidification may be needed
Drying is taking too long
Fans alone may not remove enough moisture when the surrounding air is already humid. Professional dehumidification can support a more controlled drying environment.
The property feels humid or uncomfortable
Heavy or damp indoor air can indicate that the space is holding more moisture than it can release naturally.
Condensation develops indoors
Water collecting on windows, walls, vents, or other surfaces can indicate elevated humidity or temperature differences within the property.
A musty odor remains after water damage
Persistent odors can come from wet materials that have not dried completely.
Flooring, cabinets, or trim are swelling
Warped flooring, separating baseboards, and expanded cabinet panels can develop when porous materials absorb moisture.
How Professional Dehumidification Works
We create a drying plan based on the affected space, materials, moisture readings, and indoor conditions. Equipment is monitored and adjusted as the property dries.
We inspect the affected areas
We ask what caused the moisture concern, when it began, and which rooms or materials appear damp.
We take moisture and humidity readings
We evaluate the indoor conditions and check affected walls, ceilings, flooring, cabinets, and structural materials.
We prepare the drying area
We identify the areas requiring dehumidification and determine whether containment, air movement, or damaged-material removal is needed.
We install drying equipment
We position commercial dehumidifiers and air movers based on the size, layout, and moisture conditions of the affected space.
We monitor drying progress
We take follow-up readings, adjust the equipment when needed, and remove it after the affected materials reach the established drying goals.
Drying Decisions Based on Moisture Readings
Professional drying should be based on the property’s condition rather than a fixed equipment schedule. We use moisture and humidity readings to guide equipment placement and monitor progress.
Why property owners call our drying team
Commercial drying equipment
We use professional dehumidifiers and air movers designed for water-damaged structures and larger affected areas.
Careful moisture detection
We inspect visible and surrounding materials to determine where moisture remains.
Equipment selected for the space
We consider the affected area, materials, layout, and indoor conditions when preparing the drying plan.
Ongoing drying documentation
We track moisture conditions during the project and adjust the equipment when readings show that changes are needed.
Restoration and repairs available
When water damage has affected building materials, we can coordinate removal, drying, cleaning, and approved property repairs.

Sam and Ali were absolutely fantastic to work with. From the very beginning, they were professional, thorough, and incredibly communicative. They came out multiple times to assess the situation and provided a detailed, transparent quote that clearly outlined the scope of work—no hidden fees, no surprises. What really stood out was their honesty and the time they took to explain everything. The level of detail they provided gave us full confidence in their knowledge and capabilities. They were easy to talk to, responsive, and clearly dedicated to helping their clients understand every step of the process. If you're looking for a company that is reliable, transparent, and truly knows their stuff choose A/S general contracting. I 10/10 recommend them.

A/S general contractor was recommended by a friend and so glad I went with them. They were able to come in and remodel our house after a flood and it far exceeded my expectations. They turned a stressful situation to easy and stress free for us. Special shoutout to Sam, for keeping things honest and straight forward. I knew what I was getting from the get go and if I had any issues he was able to correct them within the hour. Sam is detailed oriented and you can he shows that he cares about the customers by his actions.

Two years after the “shoddy” work they performed we are having to completely replace the flooring. They shot pin nails into laminate flooring but that isn’t the worst part. The patchwork they used to lay a sub floor was crap. They know what they did. They all like to agree and blame the homeowner for whatever goes wrong. One tone even suggesting they because we live in a “trailer house,” the floor would never be perfect. Well now we see clearly what kind of a pieced together project they did, we now have someone who is fixing this fiasco! Don’t use them

We had a major water leak that required us to file a claim through our insurance company, and our plumber referred us to A/S General. From the very beginning, Greg and Sam were incredibly helpful, guiding us through the entire process and helping expedite everything with our insurance company. Greg, Sam, and their entire team were professional, thorough, and communicative every step of the way. The construction crew consistently showed up on time, worked efficiently, and always left the work area clean at the end of each day. Thanks to their attention to detail and quality craftsmanship, our home is now in even better condition than before the water leak. We highly recommend A/S General to anyone in need of home restoration or construction services. Thank you to the entire team for taking such great care of our home!

Requested to do the job asap. Told Sam Abraham we have house guests coming in at the middle of the week. He sent a crew to see what needs to be done. By Monday, they started fixing the damage and late afternoon, the same day, the job was done. Sam Abraham didn't promise but he produced the result. Ben L

The team has been on time, quick, understanding & professional. I can say a lot of people are not like that now and days. Sam and Travis were amazing at what they do. Need more good people like them. From somebody from the military nothing makes me happier than someone that is on time and staying true to their word. Continue the good work you do gentlemen.

How San Diego’s Climate Affects Indoor Moisture
San Diego properties experience different moisture conditions depending on their location, ventilation, construction, and recent water exposure. Coastal areas can experience marine humidity and condensation, while inland buildings may hold heat and moisture inside enclosed rooms.
Seasonal storms can introduce water through roofs, windows, exterior walls, and lower-level areas. Older properties may contain plaster walls, wood flooring, and enclosed cavities that dry differently from modern materials.
Condominiums, apartments, and commercial properties can also have shared walls, ceiling assemblies, and limited access points. We consider these conditions when determining equipment placement and monitoring the drying process.
Materials that often require moisture monitoring
- Drywall and plaster
- Wood framing
- Flooring and subflooring
- Ceiling materials
- Insulation
- Cabinets and built-in finishes
- Baseboards and trim
- Attic materials
- Crawl-space materials

Dehumidification Services FAQS
What does a professional dehumidifier do?
A professional dehumidifier removes water vapor from the air. This creates conditions that help moisture evaporate from damp walls, flooring, framing, and other building materials.
Is a dehumidifier enough to dry water damage?
Not always. Effective structural drying can also require water extraction, air movement, removal of damaged materials, and moisture monitoring. We determine which methods are appropriate after inspecting the affected space.
How long will dehumidification equipment need to operate?
The timeline depends on the amount of moisture, affected materials, size of the space, indoor conditions, and how quickly drying began. We use moisture readings to determine when the equipment is no longer needed.
Can I use a household dehumidifier after water damage?
A household unit can help with everyday humidity, but it may not have enough capacity for wet structural materials or widespread water damage. Commercial equipment is designed to remove larger amounts of moisture.
Can dehumidification help prevent mold growth?
Removing excess moisture creates less favorable conditions for mold growth. However, existing mold, contaminated materials, or an unresolved moisture source may require separate remediation or repair.
